An easy example of something close to that is that fundamentalist Christians who believe the Bible to be literally true and believe as a consequence that, for instance, the universe is no more than 10,000 years old, can't really have a useful conversation about say geo-paleontology or cosmologist with a trained scientist because they simply aren't communicating on the same terms.
